Our client is a developer and manufacturer of skincare products with their own brand and also producing for some of the most recognized personal care/skincare brands.  We are in the search for their Research and Product Development Director responsible for research and analysis to support manufacturing operations, product and process development and also work closely with their marketing QA/QC teams to provide support to customers on technical and quality related issues. Recruiting in Canada and USA.

The ideal candidate will have successful research and product development experience within personal care, cosmetics, toiletries industries.  Alternatively, food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and related may also be relevant. 

This is a key leadership role at the heart of the company’s operations with direct impact to their present and future.  The company is a leader and largest producer of their product line.  There are many more applications for their product line/raw material that can and will be developed.   • Conduct research to develop new products, manufacturing procedures and specifications for new products
  • Review with QA/QC Manager and Technical Director and conducts stability program for new products of R&D batches
  • Conduct specific research to comply with client’s general requirements and on a project basis as required
  • Prepare R&D samples, ingredients lists, and Certificate of Analysis to go with the samples for customers
  • Assist to review relevant GMP procedures
  • Monitor and maintain R&D laboratory and testing equipment including purchasing of testing equipment in a cost-effective manner, conduct or arrangement equipment calibrations and preventative maintenance
  • Monitor, support and oversee subordinates’ job duties
  • Monitor, support and as key contact for SRED project
  • Support marketing and quality assurance/control team in dealing with technical and quality issues raised by customers
  • Provide presentation to customers and travel with marketing team to meet customers as required
  • Worked on special project as required

  • Bachelor Degree in Science or higher; ideally chemistry background or related
  • Successful and progressive research and product development experience in cosmetics, personal care, toiletries,  industry
  • Food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical industry experience and related may also be relevant
  • Familiarity with aseptic processing will be an asset
  • Ability to work independently and exercise creativity
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
