Great opportunity for a Human Resources Manager who will wear all Human Resources hats for this Pulp/Paper/Wood Industry client!
  • Provide an effective and consistent process to assist managers in dealing with employee performance and attendance issues.
  • Support the organizations safety programs to ensure company is meeting its safety goals.
  • Provide a standard for interpreting and applying the pertinent collective agreements and HR Policy at the Operation.
  • Provide support and direction to managers and supervisors through the initial stages of the grievance process and represent the company in late stage grievances.
  • Represent the company in wage delegate meetings and union management committees.
  • Provide support to Employee Relations during collective bargaining.
  • As part of the leadership team, identifies and supports operational efficiency opportunities.
  • As HR business partner for the mill, works closely with the division leadership team to manage the headcount budget; report on variances and provides guidance to leaders.
  • Support managers and employees through the full cycle of the annual performance management program, ensuring consistent application across teams, that employee files are kept up to date, and systems, resources and processes are achieving goals.
  • Support managers and employees through career and development discussions, identify resources and provide employees with access to the information to help them grow and develop in their roles.
  • Oversee the return to work of staff, the ability to remain at work for injured or disabled staff, duty to accommodate issues, or other performance related issues involving illness or disability.
  • Conduct recruitment and/or support corporate recruitment of division staff and hourly hiring.
  • Remain current with new HR practices, management philosophies, techniques and tools. Work with colleagues to research, develop and promote human capital best practices and ensure consistent and appropriate communication occurs.
  • Lead change throughout the operation. Recommend, develop and implement improved processes and procedures for HR programs in order to satisfy legal requirements, cost containment initiatives, and creation of a work environment consistent with Catalyst’s goals and values. Assesses risk and impact of risk and provides recommendations to reduce risk/protect Catalyst.
  • Partner with Corporate HR functions and internal resources to execute enterprise-wide HR initiatives and division specific programs.
  • Utilize quantitative and qualitative data derived from HR metrics and analytics to identify and assess emerging trends and advising on the potential impacts to the business; develop proactive actions to further support the business objectives and/or people strategy.
  • Continually build on knowledge of the company and develop overall business acumen that allows for the development and implementation of innovative concepts, new ideas and a strong culture.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A post-secondary education, ideally a graduate degree, with 4+ years HR/LR or equivalent discipline combined with relevant work experience; or
  • A proven record of achievement in human resources with special emphasis  on working as a generalist
  • CHRP/SPHR certification will be considered an asset.
