Position Summary
 
Professional staff members in this position have at least five years’ experience in a public accounting firm.  This extremely fast-paced position is responsible for various engagements and may at times be involved in multiple assignments simultaneously, responding to demanding and exacting clients.  Much of the work in this position will involve dealing with clients in the sports and entertainment group.  The Manager must have a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting and Auditing Principals (GAAP and GAAS) and Canadian taxation, and an exposure to cross-border transactions is essential.
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Specifically, the duties of the Manager are:
 
  • To provide guidance and direction to staff throughout the year
  • To review entire NTRs, reviews and audits completed by staff; to ensure that all queries and outstanding points have been resolved satisfactorily prior to review by the Partner
  • To review (and amend as necessary) the financial statements, notes, attached schedules, management letters, and any other documents to be issued to the client
  • To point out to Partner any tax planning opportunities and more efficient tax treatment where applicable
  • To perform research on complex tax and accounting issues and writing memoranda on findings
  • To review personal, corporate, trust and partnership returns
 
Qualifications

Must have a minimum of:
 
  • Completion of CPA, CA designation;
  • At least five years’ practical experience in public practice;
  • Strong Canadian and cross-border tax experience.
