$90,000.00 – $140,000.00 per year

·        Directly responsible for planning, directing, and monitoring the quality, direction, and effectiveness of safety, environmental and security programs for the mine to achieve site and corporate objectives.
·        Lead, coach and mentor directly a team of four (4) and indirectly three (3) hourly Safety Trainers.
·        Oversee and administer a budget of ~$2 million dollars, formulate, Health and Safety policy for the mine site to ensure compliance with all related federal, and provincial regulations.
·        Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience managing the safety function in an industrial high risk environment
·        Understanding of and Experience creating, implementing and overseeing behavior based safety programs.
·        Refined skill at base lining and completing risk assessments on business H&S capabilities in the areas of people, their process of activity and interaction with equipment and/or systems they work with.
·        Accomplished at building out and tying H&S Road Map Strategies to delivering best-in-class/world class H&S results.
·        Ability to link H&S best practices to achieving greater levels of individual, departmental and overall business performance.
·        Effective interpersonal, communication, presentation and influencing skills with individuals and groups at all levels.
·        Exceptional time, priority and project management skills – able to keep multiple projects with varying levels of size, complexity and sophistication moving forward.
·        Capital Project Management skills, particularly utilizing and directing internal and external engineering and technical resources i.e. machine guarding, safety protocols for capital project activities/installations etc.
·        Demonstrated skills in building, leading and motivating others and driving cultural transformational change.
·        Proven success leading initiatives without direct authority and/or control over the stakeholders involved.
·        Experience managing, coaching and developing a team of professionals.
·        Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions including reading and interpreting safety regulations.
·        Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines
·        Competent understanding of related H&S regulatory and compliance standards
·        Experience in worker’s compensation claims management.
·        Computer proficiency including word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and generating reports.
·        Underground mining environment experience.
·        Bachelors of Science degree in Environmental/Industrial Hygiene discipline, science or engineering.
·        Professional certification as an Industrial Hygienist, Safety Professional and/or Professional Engineer.
