The Network / Server Administrator manages day-to-day operations in cloud/datacenters, primarily in regards to setup, configuration and operations of virtualization layer, hardware, firewall, proxy, load balancers, IDS and operating systems.
 
The Network / Server Administrator works closely with Design Architects, Service Design Specialists, Application Engineers and Second Level Support Engineers in Professional Services and can have expertize/focus areas towards network. The Network / Server Administrator helps in handling service requests, change, incident and in problem management. The Network / Server Administrator is responsible for operations of the virtualization layer, hardware, firewall, and operating systems. In addition, he/she manages both physical and remote access to configuration items and helps in documenting cloud and datacenter routines.
 
Important skills for Network / Server Administrator are advanced technical and IT Stack knowledge of services provided by Professional Services, as well as service management knowledge. More specifically, knowledge of virtualization (VMware), operating systems (Linux and MS), hardware configuration and installation and complex software/infrastructure solutions are required.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Setup and operations of virtualization layer, including VMware, VMs etc.
  • Setup and operations of hardware, including HSM, servers, clusters and storage
  • Operations of firewall, proxy, load balancers and IDS
  • Setup and operations of operating systems
  • Manage physical and logical access to configuration items
  • Setup and operations of monitoring, in collaboration with Design Architects, Cloud & DC Manager and Second Level Support Engineers (for dashboards)
  • Document cloud/datacenter routines (e.g. incident, problem, change, periodic reviews)
  • Plan and execute changes, including coordination, planning and notification about changes
 
Network Specialization:
  • Setup and operations of firewalls, switches, routers and load balancers
  • Test changes (including coordination, planning and notification about changes)
 
Secondary Responsibilities:
 
  • Identify improvements in setup, capacity expansion etc.
  • Perform health checks and maintenance of infrastructure
  • Support Cloud & DC Manager with information to be used in capacity planning
  • Inform Regional Head Service Delivery & Operations and Global Resource Coordinator when unplanned work will impact planned work
  • Maintain CMDB and knowledge base in accordance with processes and tools provided
  • Participate in internal (e.g. cloud, automation, cloud/datacenter optimization) and customer projects
  • Provide technical input to Customer Service Manager in regards to incident and problem report creation
  • Collaborate with Database Administrators when support is needed in regards to database topics during projects and operations
  • Provide input to Test Engineers for enhancements of existing procedures
  • Provide input to compliance and information security related reports requested from Information Security Manager and Service Quality Manager
  • Provide input regarding future and continuous needs in regards to new investments to maintain existing and future services to Cloud & DC Manager and Regional Head Service Delivery & Operations
  • Manage time in accordance with planned and assigned activities to ensure accuracy and quality in planning
  • Follow Professional Services global policies, procedures and tools
  • Meet compliance and information security requirements in Service Operations
  • Evaluate, improve and add applicable work instructions
  • Identify and address day to day continuous improvement activities towards Regional Service Quality Manager and/or supervisor for further actions, related to tools, procedures and compliance fulfilment
  • Timely and accurate time reporting
  • Setup, design and advanced troubleshooting of firewall
  • Interface towards Design N’ Architecture in regards to networking topics
  • Evaluate, improve and create applicable work instructions in regards to network
  • Comply with G&D Environmental, Health & Safety policies, procedures and report any Environmental, Health & Safety hazards, incidents and concerns to the immediate supervisor/manager. 
  • Management will ensure employees are provided with job specific Environmental, Health & Safety information, training and also ensure employees follow workplace Health & Safety policies and procedures.
 
Work Experience:
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar position working in cloud or datacenter environment
  • Experience in R&D or IT
  • Experience in operations of virtualization layer, hardware, operating systems, firewalls and/or monitoring
  • Preferably Telecommunications and/or Payment industry experience
  • Preferably experience of working across different cultures
  • Relevant experience in setup and configuration of virtualization layer, hardware, operating systems, firewalls, monitoring, and/or routing protocols
  • Preferably ITIL v3 foundation certification
  • Network Specialization: Experience from setup and configuration of firewall, switches, routers and load  balancers

Education:
  • University degree in Computer Sciences, IT or related technical/engineering field

  • Ability to work flexible hours and weekends to conduct maintenance and upgrades
  • Ability to rack servers and networking devices
