Our client, an Australian success story, is a specialist FMCG manufacturer, part of an international group.  They wish to appoint a senior level Sales Professional to the role of General Manager, Sales to be responsible for growing revenue and EBIT requirements through the effective and efficient control of diverse B2B sales and development activities.  The role reports directly to the CEO with a place in the senior leadership team. This company has grown as a result of exceptional Account Management and Customer Service, combined with innovation across service processes, product formulation and packaging.

The role would suit someone with a background in complex, value added manufacturing type of environments such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, ultraceuticals, personal care, food, food ingredients or similar with exceptional capacity to absorb and apply technical industry knowledge towards ongoing sustainable and profitable business growth.

The Key Accountabilities of the role:
  • Responsible for all sales, business development and customer support activities within Australia and growing overseas markets
  • Ongoing development and growth of the overall business through an unrelenting focus on delivering viable sales and business development opportunities through superior involvement and management of day to day, tactical and strategic activities
  • Ensure optimum utilisation of resources in order to maintain the highest level of service and competitiveness in local and overseas markets
  • Setting and delivering annual sales and profitability targets, tactical and strategic initiatives to continue to grow and drive organisational performance based on a 1-3-5 year continuous budgetary cycle in line with organisational KPI’s
  • Develop and implement performance tracking metrics to track, control and support all sales, business development and customer service activities
  • Develop superior levels of industry, technical and commercial knowledge in order to maintain and implement continuous improvement initiatives in order to ensure ongoing operational delivery of KPI’s
  • Leadership, people development and succession planning within manufacturing operations to ensure that the quality, capabilities and depth of staff can support business growth objectives and competitiveness. 

To be successful in this role you will have the following experience and aptitudes:
 
  • At least 10 years’ Sales/Business Development experience in complex, highly competitive environments such as foods, pharmaceuticals, FMCG’s or similar, with direct, demonstrable management with B2B experience
  • An individual with a high level of drive, passion and confidence, a natural leader with a hands-on style and a real commitment to your team
  • Demonstrable commercial, communication, management and leadership skills
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications such as Science, Chemistry or similar (or related Chemical background essential)
  • Highly organised, structured and multitask oriented high performer with superior communication and relationship building skills with an ability to drive exceptional organisational performance directly and through direct reports.
  • A great presenter and communicator with a capacity to reach and engage multifaceted audiences from quality and regulatory driven individuals to CFO’s and CEO’s of a range of organisations
  • A person who enjoys challenges and thrives on competing priorities and pressures in an industry that is dynamic and demanding in order to meet exceptional end consumer expectations.
