Our client is a 10 year old firm with strong patents in the digital wireless signal routing space.   They are currently seeking a Vice President, Product Development to provide technical leadership, vision, direction and mentorship to a multi-disciplinary team that designs, develop, delivers and supports the full product life cycle. This role provides technical guidance and expertise for all cross-functional groups that support product delivery, internal and external to the firm.

Responsibilities:
 
Leadership
  • Actively participate as a member of the Senior Leadership Team in developing strategic technology roadmaps and contributing to operational and management decision making in meeting strategic and operational business objectives.
  • Establish, and nurture a strong management team to support the success of the Company.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentorship for multi-discipline high-performing teams to support the various stages of the product development cycle, including managing departmental budgetary, and employment matters.
  • Inspire innovation in our product and in how teams work together.
  • Demonstrate financial and business acumen to create a collaborative yet agile culture and lead the engineering department to contribute significant value to the business.
 
Technology
  • Drive the technology and product development roadmaps based on the product strategy, driving the alignment of key product releases, adjusting as necessary based on key metrics, market forces and revenue goals.
  • Lead the development and implementation of design standards, procedures and methods to ensure quality engineering standards are met and maintained.
  • Lead assigned full scale engineering project plans and project lifecycles from the design phase to field deployment.
  • Provide engineering expertise in the areas of technology product/system development, documentation, design, electrical and mechanical engineering, and maintenance.
  • Oversee preparation of detailed engineering designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and quantity estimates for product and system development.
  • Provide continuous process improvements across multiple disciplines.
 
Operational Best Practice
  • Lead key technology leaders and architects to guide longer term strategic and technical decision making.
  • Drive continuous change and flexibility in the engineering organization while championing best overall practices with flexibility, room for experimentation and constant learning.
 
Qualifications

Must Haves:
  • 15 years of Product Development experience.
  • Experience building and developing strategic, effective and trusted working relationships with senior executives and all internal and external partners, support and clients.
  • Able and motivated to drive a culture of quality, and personal accountability through development and delivery teams.
  • Strong people and management skills to interact with Executive Committee team members, cross-functional teams and all levels of the Company.
  • Proven ability to shepherd an organization through significant growth, and scale.
  • Expert in fundamentals of engineering, and related technology; creating systematic, repeatable and sustainable technology ensuring code, test quality, and continuous integration are top notch.
  • Sense of urgency to deliver new capabilities to market and can prioritize multiple strategic priorities through and with the leadership team.
 
Education:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree required (Master degree preferred)
